The Eccentric Norwegians Norwegians Way Of Life
This book is an invitation for those who are interested in, confused by or captivated by the Norwegians
and their ways of life, especially those who do not know much about their way of life.
The book aims to show you that way of life and will look as deeply as possible into the following
- The treatment and behavior of women in Norway and the equality concept.
- Norwegian moral standards, how they view other people.
- How Norwegians relate to and behave towards strangers, ignoring people in the streets and why they do that.
- The unique Norwegian way of dating and starting a relationship.
- Norwegian Christmas concept.
There are also smaller sections in the book which will look at other minor concepts and mannerisms of the Norwegians.
The book has captured all that may be of interest and use to anyone who might want to know more about these interesting
people.
It will guide anyone into understanding why they do some of the things they do, and also why people from other nations
might consider Norwegian ways of life as being eccentric. I believe no one will make this mistake after reading this book.

The Eccentric Norwegians Norwegians Way Of Life edition by Ole Hansen Reference eBooks Reviews
The Eccentric Norwegians was an interesting look into the way the culture, but I would have rated this book higher if the author provided more information. What do Norwegians do in their spare time? Are they as crafty as I have been lead to believe.
An interesting and mostly accurate read, but too short. I lived in Norway (Norge) for a couple of years. This book is only a brief introduction into understanding Norwegian thinking and lifestyle. More follow-up and detail into additional topics would be required to have an appreciable level of the wonderful world of Norway and it's native people.
I am very disappointed in this book. I'm not even sure you could call it a book as it was so short. It was more like a poorly written answer to an essay question with no facts, background or explanation to back it up. It just sounds like someone trying to defend the stereotypes of his culture through sweeping generalities. I was hoping to get a glimpse into my heritage, but this book was not helpful at all.
I always find it interesting reading books about different countries; their people and their culture. It’s maybe because I have always maintained that we are all one people, maybe of different skin color, race or creed, but one just the same under the eyes of one Creator. I have visited Norway only once, and I find the people there quite nice. Reading this book confirms that belief.
Very interesting read! I was reading this book with a smile as I remember my Norwegian friends and their seemingly eccentric behavior. I particularly liked the part about the snus, as I have seen ALL of my male Norwegian friends have it after dinner. It also shed light on the dating style of Norwegians because it seemed to me that the men never really approach unless it was dire.
The author forgot about the Aquavit! It may not be purely Norwegian but it's a running joke among my Norwegian friends and I.
Incredibly short read. Not sure how much research went into it. It seemed like it was written by someone who visited for a few weeks and wrote what they learned, rather than a well-researched and well-experienced book. It had some cool information and I don't regret reading it, but I was kind of disappointed by it's abruptness. I wouldn't use it to prepare for a trip to Norway, I don't think, but it had some interesting tidbits.
This is a quirky, very short commentary (pastiche, really) representing the author’s view of the Norwegian character’s quirkiness. It is not particularly profound, and it is organizationally haphazard; but the author Ole Hansen is a good writer (in his presumed second language of English), and his insights are amusing – whether intentionally or, sometimes, not. His slight denigrations, albeit polite, of people and mores in “the States” tends to rankle this one-in-350-million citizen of the US (of Norwegian descent); but to paraphrase the writer “Hey, that’s what makes this world go round.” In truth, however, this reader would be pleased to read more from Hansen about his beloved Norske hjemland/Norwegian homeland.
Judging is easy. But what we do not realize is the consequences it might bring to the people directly affected by it. Norwegians are one of the most eccentric but easily misunderstood individuals. However, their culture and context are what define them and understanding them should be our course of action to understand their behavior.
